Advanced Sort
Control the storefront order of products across a Shopify collection's combined membership.
Product selection and order are separate
Collection rules decide which products belong in a collection. Advanced Sort decides the final order shoppers see.
That means Advanced Sort works independently from the rules used to populate the collection.
Sorting signals
Build a strategy from the signals available for your store, including:
- revenue or units sold over 24 hours, 7 days, 30 days, or a custom window
- inventory and availability
- gross profit
- product, publish, and restock dates
- tags and selected metafields
- price, title, and other product fields
Sales-based strategies depend on Planera's synced sales data. Selected metafields must be configured and synced before they can guide product order.
Merchandising controls
Layer practical controls on top of the primary sort:
- push sold-out products down
- bring discounted products first
- keep new products near the top for a chosen period
- group products by tags
- shuffle the whole collection or only the top group
- rotate featured products when the strategy runs
- boost selected products or groups
How to set it up
- Open a collection in Planera.
- Turn on Advanced Sort.
- Choose the primary sorting signal and direction.
- Add the merchandising controls the collection needs.
- Preview and sync the result.
Planera can refresh saved strategies through the store's configured sync schedule. A Campaign can also apply a different strategy for a specific window.
Useful strategies
Best sellers with stock protection
Sort by recent sales and push sold-out products lower, so strong available products keep the most visible positions.
New arrivals
Bring recently added products forward for a defined number of days, then let the main strategy take over.
Group, then sort
Place tag groups in a deliberate sequence and sort within each group using sales, margin, inventory, or another signal.
Controlled freshness
Sort first, then shuffle a top group or rotate featured positions. The collection stays commercially structured without looking frozen.
Plan limits
Advanced Sort product limits apply per collection. See Choosing a Plan for the current public limits.
