Populate Collections
Automatically choose products for a Shopify collection using sales performance, inventory, margin, dates, tags, metafields, and other calculated rules.
Go beyond basic collection rules
Planera can use store signals that are difficult to combine in Shopify alone:
- revenue and units sold over recent time periods
- sales growth and gross profit
- inventory and availability
- product and restock dates
- tags and selected metafields
- thresholds, grouped AND/OR logic, and top-product limits
For example, you can build a collection of in-stock products with growing seven-day sales, a minimum margin, and one of several merchandising tags.
How collection population works
- Open a collection in Planera.
- Turn on Populate by Planera.
- Build the product rules that match your merchandising goal.
- Preview the matching products.
- Sync the collection now or let Planera refresh it on schedule.
Planera manages the products selected by its own rules while preserving collection membership managed elsewhere. This follows Shopify's current collection API and avoids replacing unrelated collection logic.
Optional product limits
When a rule matches more products than you need, add a limit and rank the matches by a useful signal. For example, keep only the top 48 matching products by 30-day revenue, seven-day growth, gross profit, restock date, or a selected metafield.
Reuse rules with Shared Lists
Populate by Planera is the direct choice when the rules belong to one individual collection. Define the product logic on that collection and let Planera keep its matching products refreshed.
If the same calculated product group belongs in several collections, create a Shared List instead. Define the rules once, then connect the resulting list to every collection that needs it.
Population and Advanced Sort
Collection population decides which products Planera adds. Advanced Sort decides the final storefront order across the full collection.
Use them together when you want both calculated product selection and intentional product placement.
